San Francisco, CA (Macworld 2008–Booth #S-338) – January 15, 2008 – As Time Magazine’s “Invention of the Year,” the iPhone is the most sophisticated communication and data management device sold today; but, like many digital devices, irreplaceable data can be lost if the iPhone is damaged or not synchronized while out in the field. At risk are digital photos, address book contacts, calendar entries, notes and downloaded music files. Until now, “lost data” from iPhones was considered “lost forever.” Now DriveSavers, the worldwide leader in data recovery services, has stepped into the spotlight to offer the most technologically advanced data recovery service to iPhone users—the first of its kind in the industry.

Solid state drives (SSD)—built into iPhones—use less power, run silently and are more resistant to shock than common hard drives. However, this technology can also be compromised by user error, mismanagement and software or hardware failure. Last year, DriveSavers successful completed recoveries on a number of iPhones that lost data because of either deleted files or corrupted file systems.

“The power and simplicity of the iPhone has revolutionized the mobile phone industry,” said Scott Gaidano, president of DriveSavers Data Recovery.

“iPhones can go anywhere, capturing precious moments through digital photos, gathering new contacts and creating important notes. Unfortunately, if the newly created data is lost before it is synchronized with the computer, it can be devastating to the user. Now that we‘ve added iPhones to our growing list of recovery services, customers have peace of mind that there is somewhere to go to get their critical iPhone data back.”

Data Recovery has been a lifesaver for Apple users over the past twenty years and has been an exhibitor at Macworld since 1985. This year, DriveSavers will display a special enhanced version of its world-famous museum of “disk-asters” featuring the oldest rotating media, strange and curious recoveries and Macs that few have ever seen before.  In addition, “Mac Goddess” Robin Williams, the author of over fifty Mac books, will be at DriveSavers booth (#S-338) signing her latest books: Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard:  Peachpit Learning Series and The Little Mac Book; and sharing her fascinating and funny experiences with data lost and data found.
