Fstoppers: Company Offers Free Data Recovery for Harvey Victims
Originally published by Fstoppers.
If you haven’t heard about or seen images of the destruction that Hurricane Harvey has caused in Texas and Louisiana, you’re probably living under a big, dry rock. Around 100,000 homes have been affected by the storm, all with varying levels of damage as well as varying levels of insurance. Even one of our own writers was affected. For those of you who suffered a property loss in the flooding, there might be a small silver lining. A data recovery company is offering free services for hard drives damaged by flooding.
If you’re afraid you’ve lost your family photos (or even your professional image archive), financial records, or anything else, you may be able to send your hard drive in to DriveSavers at a free or reduced cost. If you were a victim of Harvey and you send in your drive by September 15, and they’re not over capacity, DriveSavers will attempt to recover your data for you for free — normally a quite costly undertaking. If you have multiple drives, they’ll perform their services on those at a 50% discount. It may not seem like much, but not having to pay as much (if anything) for the recovery of precious and irreplaceable family archives and essential files may bring some much needed peace of mind to many.
“The free recovery service is available now for victims of Hurricane Harvey. Because exposure to water and air cause corrosion on electronic circuitry, customers must contact DriveSavers and ship their device no later than September 15th, 2017. There is a limit of one device per business or household. Customers needing additional recoveries, and those with multi-disk devices such as RAID, NAS and SAN devices, are eligible for a 50 percent discount off the regular service fees.”
Thanks, DriveSavers.
