DriveSavers restaure les illustrations perdues de Whyt Manga

DriveSavers Restores Whyt Manga’s Lost Artwork

When Odunze Oguguo, also known as Whyt Manga—visionary creator of Apple Black and co-founder of Saturday AM—nearly lost years of manga artwork, Clip Studio Paint files, and layered illustrations crucial to a publishing deal with Webtoon, DriveSavers came to the rescue.

Odunze faced an inaccessible 2TB external backup drive packed with over a thousand manga pages. Those files contained intricate digital layers he needed to reformat his work for vertical‑scroll publishing. “I was cooked,” he admits. Without those files, “converting the pages would’ve been hell.”

With his archive at risk, he turned to DriveSavers Data Recovery. After completing the free evaluation and receiving approval from Odunze, the engineering team discovered more than 10,000 physically damaged sectors on the disque dur—the root cause of its inaccessibility.

Using proprietary tools, the team successfully extracted all accessible sectors, recovering over 1.4TB of data and 86,799 files. Despite the severe hardware errors, the full file structure and preview integrity were preserved. Within days, Odunze had his entire creative archive restored—layers, files, and all.

“This data recovery service saved my manga deal,” he says. “Thank goodness they saved it all.”

Odunze shares his story as both a cautionary tale and a shoutout to DriveSavers. His takeaway: “Save your files. Save your files properly.”

This data recovery service saved my manga deal. I’m the creator of Apple Black, published and serialized on Saturday AM where I’m also cofounder.

We just struck a deal with Webtoon to take our manga, but then convert it to that more colored vertical scroll version. And for those who pay attention, I’ve been drawing a really long time. And so to take my old Shonen manga pages, I needed all the files and the layers and Clip Studio Paint, you know, from my all my artist folks. Basically, if you don’t know, understand what I’m talking about, I just needed the old files that I had back then. I need those to take my pages and convert them to vertical scroll for all my books.

Now imagine if all those files were gone.

My hard drive was acting funky and I lost all those files. I came online asking for help, called a couple places to no avail. There’s actually a service that tried helping me and they couldn’t do it. Without those files, converting the pages would have been hell. Until somebody recommended DriveSavers, who also partnered with me to bring this video to you guys.

Shouts out to them because thank goodness they saved it all. Guys, save your files. Save your file. I actually saved mine, but it’s not just save your files.

Save your files properly. I gave them a call, took a couple days, and they were able retrieve everything. Now I don’t play. I save it on Google Drive, OverDrive, Piledriver. Even when Saturday AM partnered with SanDisk, you got this SSD with Clockstriker on it. I’m saving everything now.

Got everything back, put it on a drive, and it saved my life. Don’t be like me. Save everywhere.

Shout out to DriveSavers. I’ve drawn over a thousand manga pages. Imagine all those Clip Studio Paint files gone. Poof. Lost. I was I was cooked. Now I’m doing the fun illustration you see before you.

If y’all’s data is ever cooked in any way, laptop, hard drive, whatever the case may be, y’all know that DriveSavers is Whyt Manga approved because
