Depuis lors, cette technologie a compl\u00e8tement transform\u00e9 notre fa\u00e7on de calculer, de travailler et de vivre.<\/p>\n<p>Les disques durs ont connu une \u00e9volution quasi constante au cours des sept derni\u00e8res d\u00e9cennies. Les fabricants cherchent presque constamment \u00e0 r\u00e9duire leur taille physique et leur co\u00fbt tout en augmentant leur capacit\u00e9 de stockage de donn\u00e9es. Si l'on consid\u00e8re que le disque flash moyen de 1 Go co\u00fbte aujourd'hui moins de $5 - contre $849 pour un disque dur externe de 1 Go vendu par Seagate en 1995 - on peut affirmer sans risque de se tromper que des progr\u00e8s consid\u00e9rables ont \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9alis\u00e9s.<\/p>\n<p>Comment font-ils, que fait un disque dur et comment fonctionne-t-il ?<\/p>\n<h2>Que fait un disque dur ?<\/h2>\n<p>Vous pouvez <em>penser<\/em> vous connaissez d\u00e9j\u00e0 la r\u00e9ponse \u00e0 cette question. Les disques durs stockent vos donn\u00e9es, n'est-ce pas ? Bien que cela soit techniquement correct, les disques durs font bien plus que simplement sauvegarder vos informations. En termes tr\u00e8s simples, les disques durs lisent et \u00e9crivent des donn\u00e9es.<\/p>\n<p>Les disques durs utilisent un syst\u00e8me complexe d'aimants et de moteurs pour lire et \u00e9crire des donn\u00e9es en code binaire, un langage informatique compos\u00e9 d'une combinaison de \"0\" et de \"1\". Le code binaire est un \u00e9l\u00e9ment fondamental de l'informatique. Une fois les donn\u00e9es converties en code binaire, l'information est r\u00e9partie sur la fine couche magn\u00e9tique du disque dur. Les donn\u00e9es sont ensuite lues et \u00e9crites par une t\u00eate actionn\u00e9e par un moteur \u00e0 grande vitesse.<\/p>\n<p>Les informations sont \u00e9crites sur le disque dur lorsqu'un courant \u00e9lectrique traverse les t\u00eates et imprime un code binaire sur les aimants du disque dur. Pour lire les donn\u00e9es, le processus est invers\u00e9 et l'\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 passe des aimants aux t\u00eates de lecture pour traduire le code binaire en informations rappel\u00e9es par l'utilisateur.<\/p>\n<p>Ce processus, apparemment compliqu\u00e9, se compose de plusieurs \u00e9l\u00e9ments simples. Mais si vous voulez vraiment savoir comment fonctionne un disque dur, vous devez comprendre les parties qui composent l'ensemble.<\/p>\n<h2>Composants d'un disque dur<\/h2>\n<p>Il existe de nombreux types de disques durs diff\u00e9rents et la plupart d'entre eux suivent la m\u00eame formule de fonctionnement de base. Voici les \u00e9l\u00e9ments qui font fonctionner un disque dur.<\/p>\n<h3>Composant #1 : Plateaux<\/h3>\n<p>C'est sur les plateaux que sont stock\u00e9es les donn\u00e9es. Il s'agit de disques circulaires double face en aluminium, en verre ou en c\u00e9ramique qui ont \u00e9t\u00e9 magn\u00e9tis\u00e9s pour stocker les donn\u00e9es. La plupart des disques durs contiennent de un \u00e0 cinq plateaux. En r\u00e8gle g\u00e9n\u00e9rale, plus le disque est lourd, plus il contient de plateaux.<\/p>\n<p>Les disques durs modernes sont \u00e9quip\u00e9s de deux t\u00eates de lecture, l'une en haut et l'autre en bas, qui lisent et \u00e9crivent les donn\u00e9es sur chaque plateau. Les informations des plateaux sont organis\u00e9es en pistes, secteurs et cylindres. Ces t\u00eates de disque n'entrent jamais en contact direct avec les plateaux, car le moindre frottement ou le moindre grain de poussi\u00e8re pourrait endommager un disque.<\/p>\n<h3>Composant #2 : Broche<\/h3>\n<p>Les broches font tourner les plateaux lorsque cela est n\u00e9cessaire et les maintiennent en position. La plupart des disques durs standard ont une vitesse de rotation de 7 200 tours\/minute, mais cette vitesse peut varier de 5 400 \u00e0 15 000 tours\/minute, selon le disque. Plus la broche est rapide, plus le disque dur peut lire et \u00e9crire des donn\u00e9es rapidement.<\/p>\n<p>Cette partie du disque dur travaille dur pour maintenir un espace sp\u00e9cifique entre chaque plateau afin que le bras de lecture\/\u00e9criture puisse s'y loger.<\/p>\n<h3>Composant #3 : Bras de lecture\/\u00e9criture<\/h3>\n<p>Nous avons d\u00e9j\u00e0 mentionn\u00e9 les t\u00eates de lecture\/\u00e9criture, les parties du disque dur qui enregistrent et rappellent les donn\u00e9es du disque. Le bras de lecture\/\u00e9criture contr\u00f4le les t\u00eates de lecture\/\u00e9criture en s'assurant qu'elles sont dans la bonne position pour lire ou \u00e9crire des donn\u00e9es.<\/p>\n<p>Cette partie du disque dur est \u00e9galement appel\u00e9e bras de t\u00eate ou bras actionneur.<\/p>\n<h3>Composant #4 : Actionneur<\/h3>\n<p>L'actionneur est litt\u00e9ralement un moteur. Ce composant re\u00e7oit des instructions de la carte de circuit imprim\u00e9 du lecteur et d\u00e9place le bras de lecture\/\u00e9criture en cons\u00e9quence. C'est l'actionneur qui garantit que les t\u00eates de lecture\/\u00e9criture sont au bon endroit au bon moment.<\/p>\n<p>Les disques durs des ann\u00e9es 80 utilisaient un dispositif similaire, appel\u00e9 actionneur \u00e0 moteur pas \u00e0 pas. Ce composant d\u00e9pla\u00e7ait les t\u00eates en fonction d'un moteur r\u00e9agissant aux impulsions du moteur pas \u00e0 pas. Aujourd'hui, le mouvement de l'actionneur est contr\u00f4l\u00e9 par un actionneur \u00e0 bobine mobile qui contr\u00f4le le mouvement d'une bobine vers ou loin d'un plateau magn\u00e9tique.<\/p>\n<h3>Composant #5 : carte de circuit imprim\u00e9 (PCB)<\/h3>\n<p>Le disque dur est aliment\u00e9 en \u00e9lectricit\u00e9, mais comment ? La carte de circuit imprim\u00e9 est le cerveau du disque dur. Ce composant comporte un microprocesseur et une m\u00e9moire associative qui convertit les signaux \u00e9lectriques en signaux num\u00e9riques.<\/p>\n<p>Les circuits imprim\u00e9s contiennent des composants qui alimentent chaque partie du disque dur au bon moment et dirigent le flux de donn\u00e9es vers et depuis les plateaux, et bien d'autres choses encore.<\/p>\n<h3>Composant #6 : Interface<\/h3>\n<p>Cette partie du disque relie la carte de circuit imprim\u00e9 au disque dur lui-m\u00eame. L'interface est l'un des principaux facteurs influen\u00e7ant la vitesse du disque dur. La vitesse est en fin de compte d\u00e9termin\u00e9e par le type d'interface du disque dur. Voici quelques-unes des principales options :<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>ATA\/IDE : Il s'agit de l'interface PC la plus courante jusqu'en 2005.<\/li>\n<li>S-ATA (Serial ATA) : Il a remplac\u00e9 l'ATA\/IDE et a augment\u00e9 la vitesse des disques durs.<\/li>\n<li>SCSI (Small Computer System Interface) : Ce type d'interface est con\u00e7u pour connecter divers p\u00e9riph\u00e9riques par l'interm\u00e9diaire d'un adaptateur ou d'un contr\u00f4leur SCSI.<\/li>\n<li>SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) : il s'agit de la version actualis\u00e9e de SCSI, con\u00e7ue pour transf\u00e9rer des donn\u00e9es depuis et vers des disques durs.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>D\u00e9faillance du disque dur<\/h2>\n<p>Comme tout autre appareil \u00e9lectronique, les disques durs pr\u00e9sentent un risque de d\u00e9faillance.
