Flash-based version of DriveSaver iPhone app now available online
SAN FRANCISCO, CA – MACWORLD CONFERENCE AND EXPO 2009 (Booth #1448) – FEBRUARY 11, 2010 – DriveSavers, the worldwide leader in data recovery services, adds solid-state drive (SSD) failures to its popular iPhone application, DriveSaver. The free iPhone application is a hard drive simulator that educates users about hard drive data storage technology. A Flash-based web version of DriveSaver is available now. DriveSaver is fun, educational and useful to anyone who ever wanted to see inside a SSD or any hard drive and learn why drives fail.
The most utilized feature of the iPhone application is “Crash a Hard Drive,” a simulation of real-world drive failures that users experience daily. For the first time, the updated virtual environment simulates a SSD crash, allowing users to learn how these devices can fail. The application also simulates various types of other drive failures including watching a head crash score the platters and thus turning the data into dust.
Demonstrations of the new version of DriveSaver are available in two locations: Macworld’s Mobile Applications Showcase (# 1366) and DriveSavers booth (#1448). DriveSavers booth will also host “Doctor Data’s Disk-aster Clinic” every 90 minutes. During the clinic, Dr. Data will discuss current and relevant data recovery issues and real-life scenarios of data loss.
DriveSaver is currently available for a free download on iTunes and in the Utilities and Productivity categories of the iPhone App Store. The new version is waiting Apple approval and should be available within the week.
