DriveSavers Extends $500 Relief To Hurricane Sandy Victims

Digital photos, critical financial records and other personal and/or business-related documents may be recoverable by a certified, professional data recovery service provider

(NOVATO, CA – October 31, 2012) – DriveSavers Data Recovery, the worldwide leader in data recovery services, announces today that it is offering assistance to Hurricane Sandy victims by providing $500 off its data recovery services. Storage devices in home computers, laptops and other electronic devices that are exposed to flood waters, fire and/or power surges from “The Perfect Storm” are vulnerable to data loss but still may be recoverable.

“If you cannot access your data from your computer or storage device, no matter what its been through, the data may still be recoverable,” said Chris Bross, Strategic Technical Alliance Engineer at DriveSavers Data Recovery. “We have repeatedly been successful in recovering data from storage devices that have been exposed to sustained water and fire damage, corruption, corrosion and erosion. We have the most advanced technology and methods available to help Hurricane Sandy victims get their data back safely.”

DriveSavers Data Recovery has recovered data from storage devices that have been destroyed by some of the worst natural disasters imaginable, including the Japanese earthquake and tsunami, Hurricane Isaac, Hurricane Katrina, earthquake in Haiti and the Southern California fires. DriveSavers can help Hurricane Sandy victims recover irreplaceable digital photos, critical financial records, address books, passwords, personal files and other important data from their damaged storage devices.

Starting today and running through December 31, 2012, DriveSavers is offering $500 off their data recovery services for single hard drives damaged by water, mud or power surges from Hurricane Sandy one recovery per person and one recovery per business. In addition, DriveSavers is calling on its extensive network of over 3,000 computer service providers throughout the impacted region to help coordinate efforts.

To start the data recovery process, call DriveSavers Data Recovery at 800.440.1904 to speak to a data recovery advisor that is available 24/7. If local assistance is needed, one of DriveSavers 3,000 computer service providers in the region can be contacted.

The following are tips on how to protect storage devices from further water damage and power surges.

If your computer has suffered water damage:

  • Do not attempt to power up visibly wet devices.
  • Do not dry a wet hard drive or other computer media; place them in an airtight bag and call DriveSavers for proper shipping and handling instructions.

To avoid data loss caused by power surges:

  • Unplug all electronic devices from outlets, surge protectors and battery backup systems before power is restored.
  • If a hard drive won’t spin up or makes any unusual noises, shut down the computer immediately and call DriveSavers.
